Description Facebook recently launched a new initiative to help provide independent, credible research about the role of social media in elections and democracy. We are seeking a Strategic Associate Manager at the intersection of public policy, data, and academia to support this initiative. This role will work in partnership with functions across the company to ensure the initiative’s success. They will provide support for internal project management, steward relationships with internal and external partners, and ensure responsible sharing of data to inform key research questions.
This role is on the Strategic Initiatives Team for Policy and Communications and located in Menlo Park.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support program management and successful execution of the elections research commission for the policy and communications team

  • Develop workplans and frameworks to prioritize and sequence the activities of the company and partners to deliver on the initiative

  • Help manage relationships, outreach, and communication with commission members, foundation partners, and global academics including training with the academic research community on how to use our data tools and products

  • Build partnerships with internal teams including legal, data science, and privacy teams to establish standards and processes for responsible data sharing

  • Ensure that informative research is happening on questions about elections and democracy for Facebook and society

  • Serve as an internal and external resource on questions around data sharing and policy research

  • Willingness to travel

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of work experience with Bachelor's degree in economics, public policy, or related field

  • Experience with data science, social media data sets, and academic research on technology and society

  • Knowledge of data sharing and privacy standards

  • Experience training others on digital tools and processes

  • Experience driving projects forward with multiple internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience presenting at public events and engaging with stakeholders

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of work experience with PhD, JD or Master's degree

  • Consulting experience
