Together, we can help people build stronger communities — we're just getting started. Facebook is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Platform Security team. We are looking for a Software Engineer that is passionate about hardware and enjoys working closely with hardware design engineers and security teams. The Platform Security team is responsible for helping Facebook securely design, manufacture, ship and operate hardware infrastructure across corporate and production environments. This position is full-time and located in our Menlo Park office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce platform level security requirements for new products, components, ASICs, PCB designs, firmware, and drive adoption of platform level security architectures

  • Develop/test and deploy attestation tools and services for all platforms including hardware, firmware and kernel.

  • Work with component vendors and develop best practices for auditing supply chain

  • Harden our servers and networks against exploitation and privilege escalation.

  • Instrument systems to enable detection of intrusions.

  • Work with business and engineering groups to provide subject matter expertise on architecture, authentication, and network and systems security.

  • Conduct security assessments of hardware infrastructure to identify vulnerabilities, and recommend and prioritize remediation actions.

  • Build tools to secure our information, systems, networks, applications, and products.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or similar technical field

  • 1-2+ years of experience with Linux kernel

  • 1-2+ years of experience scripting with PHP, Python or Perl

  • 1-2+ years of experience coding with C/C++

  • Excellent understanding and experience with attacks and mitigation methods

  • Troubleshooting and analytical skills

  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

  • Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship/co-op

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiar with latest server architecture and components

  • Detailed knowledge of of networking protocols and operations.
